Terms of Service
The rules for using vidstill, what we provide, what you are responsible for, and the limits of our liability.
By using vidstill you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What vidstill does
vidstill is a tool. You give it a link to a public video on a supported platform and it fetches that video's metadata, streams, or captions on your behalf, and can produce a downloadable file, a transcript, or an AI-written summary. We do not host a library of videos and we do not choose what you paste.
Your responsibilities
- Only use vidstill with content you have the right to download, transcribe or summarize: your own videos, content whose licence permits it, or content for your personal, offline use where that is allowed by the law that applies to you.
- Do not re-upload, sell, or distribute files you obtain through vidstill unless you hold the rights to do so.
- Do not use vidstill to access private, login-walled, or age-restricted content, or to bypass a platform's technical protections beyond what the tool itself does.
- Do not automate or scrape the service, resell access, or attempt to overload it.
- Keep your account credentials to yourself and tell us if you think they have been compromised.
You are responsible for how you use what vidstill gives you and for complying with the terms of the platform the video came from.
Public pages
When a transcript or summary is created, it is published on a page for that video. If you are signed in, you can make pages you created private. Pages can be removed on request by rights holders through our DMCA process, and we may remove any page at our discretion.
Accounts and plans
- Guest use is free within a daily allowance. A free account raises it. Pro removes the caps and adds features, as described on the pricing page.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing page; the plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Lifetime purchases are one-time and non-transferable.
- We may change prices with notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
- Refunds: contact us within 14 days of a first purchase if the service did not work for you.
Availability
Video platforms change without notice, and features that work today may stop working tomorrow. We do our best to keep vidstill working but do not guarantee that any video, quality, or feature will be available, or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Intellectual property
The vidstill name, design and code are ours. Videos, captions and the content of transcripts and summaries belong to their respective owners; we claim no rights in them.
Termination
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, including repeat copyright complaints. You may delete your account at any time.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
vidstill is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for the content of any video, transcript or summary, or for any use you make of them. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will note the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
